Belly button rings and tattoos?

I'm only 17, almost 18, but I've been considering for a really long time getting a belly button piercing and a very small tattoo on either my hip, or the inside of my wrist. I think that it would be either an owl or a colorguard symbol with the name and graduating class of my highschool. I'm not trashy at all. I wear very simple, but flattering clothing, and I have a very good reputation. I shop at places like American Eagle, and Pacific Sunwear, so I dress pretty traditionally, nothing too skimpy. I'm only 5'0"- 5'1", with blonde hair and blue eyes, if physical appearance even matters. In my opinion, tattoos and navel piercings aren't trashy, it's the people who have them that make them that way. But not everyone agrees, so I want to know what you all think. Thanks! :)
